Step #2 by denismayerjr
Step #2
After completing my digital concept I simply print it on regular paper 8.5" x 11"
and assembled them with tape. Then I get to turn the large print over and use a charcoal chalk as a carbon to transfer the image on the board. At this point I prefer to transfer the image this way rather than drawing everything by hand. I do not need to challenge myself as I know I can do it by hand, i'm just trying to save a bit of time since I know i'll spend months on this painting. I guess it's all personal as to how it's done.

British Columbia's, Denis Mayer's, paintings are unsurpassed for their deeply emotional depiction of wildlife, capturing these creatures in their moment of content and playfulness.

His brilliant mastering of his medium and his extreme attention to detail and textures is nothing short of phenomenal.

His love for his work and for the animal kingdom is obvious to any observer that view his photo realistic paintings.

Mayer's inborn passion for outdoor wildlife has inspired him to creating various wildlife paintings in exquisite detail. He is successfully engaged in dealing with local and international art collectors.

His work conveys a deep respect for Nature's creations through precise and faithful renderings of animals, birds and habitat that are true to even the smallest detail.

Mayer may work for months to ensure that what he sees in his paintings is what his heart truly feels.

He makes his own reproductions; creating giclées (digitally produced fine art prints) of his work and these, along with his original paintings, can be seen internationally and are sought after by private collectors.

You can see some of his airbrush illustrations at: www.denismayerjr.daportfolio.c… ( Still updating the website. ( All done by hand )

Your gallery amazes me to no end. I don't generally like photorealism much because it is so often simple carbon copies of photos or of the real thing, but your work has so much personality and style in it that your paintings seem just as lifelike as any real animal would. It's like you don't just paint the animals' likeness but somehow also give them a soul, and that is truly beautiful.
